If this is your first time attending Immanuel Fellowship, you may have some questions regarding our method of worship. We are part of the Evangelical Missionary Church of Canada. We trust the following scriptures will help answer your questions.

  • “And the Levites, of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.” (2 Chronicles 20:19)

  • “O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” (Psalm 47:1)

  • “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary & bless the Lord.” (Psalm 134:2) “I desire therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath & doubting.” (1 Timothy 2:8)

  • “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)

“And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God…” (Acts 4:24)

  • “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit & I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, & I will sing with the understanding also.” (1 Cor. 14:14-15)

  • “But the hour cometh & now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit & in Truth for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit & they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit & in Truth.” (John 4:23-24)

“For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the Spirit, & rejoice in Christ Jesus & have no confidence in the flesh.” (Philippians 3:3)

  • “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms & hymns, spiritual songs, singing & making melody in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:18-19)

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching & admonishing one another in psalms & hymns, & spiritual songs, singing with the grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16)

  • “Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, & forbid not to speak with tongues.” (1 Cor. 14:39)

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal…To another divers kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” “I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interprets, that the church may receive edifying.” (1 Cor. 14:5)

“If any man speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, that by course, let one interpret.” (1 Cor. 14:27)

  • “Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the psaltry & harp. Praise Him with the timbrel & dance. Praise Him with stringed instruments & organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: Praise Him upon the high-sounding cymbals.”

“And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, & as the voice of a great thunder: & I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps.” (Revelation 14:2)

  • “And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, Thou art God, which hast made heaven & earth.” (Acts 4:24)

  • “Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church & let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; & the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, & the Lord will raise him up, & if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.”(James 5: 14, 15)

  • “But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, & exhortation, & comfort.” (1 Cor. 14:3)
